Educating and Improving Cancer Prevention

Step One: Lock in a date with your friends.

Start a group chat or call with your friends. Lock in a date where everyone is able to commit.
Let them know that you are hosting a 'Mammogram Party'.

A 'Mammogram Party' is just like your regular get together, except that you are all committing to ALSO taking care of your health, by having your mammogram completed at the same time. You can remind your friends that it is recommended for women 40 - 75 to have a mammogram every 2 years.  We bet there is at least one of your friends that is late. (whoops).

A 'Mammogram Party' is a great way to support each other and especially good for any of your friends who may now be eligible for the Breast Screening program, and are a little apprehensive about the process.

Step Two: Book it in!

Jump online or call the most convenient Breast Screen location and book in for back to back appointments. Most appointments will be only 10-15 mins each. Some locations are open weekends and until 7:30pm some evenings too.

Your friends will need to complete a pre-screening questionaire. If any of your friends have any symptoms or unexplained lumps, they will require a referral from their GP and to undertake their screening with a specialist instead.

Step Three: It's Girl Time

Head to your Breast Screen location and meet with your friends 15-20mins before the first booking. You will each complete your screening individually so there is no need to feel uncomfortable, and best of all, once it's done, you wont need to attend another screening for two years. Breast Screen will send your personal results to you only.

Have a chat with your friends in the waiting room and catch up. If you are new to Breast Screening, this is a good chance to ask your experienced friends what you can expect. (Or you can ask the Breast Screen team too. They are there to help).

Step Four: Enjoy an activity with your friends

Hopefully you pre-planned your catch up activity. Maybe it's a shopping spree, lunch or dinner at a nice restaurant or even an arts and crafts activity like a paint n sip. Whatever you chose, now it's time to enjoy each-other's company and feel good knowing that you have prioritised your health at the same time.

Want to make your Mammogram Party in to a fundraiser for CPSA?

It's easy, flexible and most importantly, you can feel great about helping a family with accommodation whilst also ensuring you are taking the precautionary measures for your own health. It is a Win : Win !!

All you need to do, is to register your Mammogram Party with us below. We'll shoot you your own unique BPAY reference and you can either collect donations from your friends and we will send you your receipt, or you can have them donate directly and we will send them their receipts. It's all tax deductible too.

You could host a morning tea or dinner party, or just ask for a small donation. Give your friends our website (http://www.cancerprevention.org.au) or tell them a little bit about how their donation will be supporting families who are required to travel for their treatments, and we are sure they would be happy to help out.

And if you are not sure how much is reasonable, we usually suggest $10-$20 per person is affordable for most, but all donations over $2 are tax deductible and are greatly appreciated.
